Close enough that a small job still makes sense
Tunnel Hill is a small town just north-west of Dalton, close enough to our base that it is effectively home ground. It sits on the old Western & Atlantic railroad line, and it has the character of a place that is near a working town without being in it — smaller streets, bigger lots than you get closer in, and a good deal of land on the edges.
The proximity genuinely matters here, and not just for convenience. On a job at the edge of our radius, a small deck, a fence run or a single carport can be hard to justify against the travel. Ten minutes from base, those jobs are perfectly sensible on their own. If you have wanted a fence line replaced or a deck rebuilt and assumed it was too small a job to interest a builder, this is the part of the area where that is least true.
Beyond that, the mix is the Whitfield County mix: bigger lots meaning carports and covered parking, sloping yards meaning stepped fences and elevated decks, and older houses meaning bathrooms and garage conversions. There is nothing we do elsewhere that we do not do here, and the drive means we can usually get out to look within days.

Tunnel Hill Questions
In Tunnel Hill, almost certainly not. Being ten minutes from base is what makes a single fence run, a small deck or a one-bay carport worth doing on its own, where the same job an hour away would be hard to justify. By stepping it. Each section is built level and the line drops in even increments where the ground falls, so the top reads as deliberate horizontal runs rather than a wave following the lawn. Every post height is worked out before anything is dug, which is slower to set out and the reason our fences sight straight.
Not straight away. New pressure-treated timber holds a lot of moisture, and stain applied too early sits on the surface, seals that moisture in and peels within a season. Depending on the timber and the time of year it can be weeks or months. We will tell you when it is genuinely ready, even if that means coming back — and being local, coming back is easy.
It is in Whitfield County, the same county as our own address, so the requirements are the ones we deal with most. Whether a permit is needed depends on the size and type of structure, and city limits can differ from unincorporated county. We will tell you what we understand applies to your address.
Sometimes, and the answer is underneath rather than on top. New boards on a sound frame is good value; new boards on failing joists or a badly fixed ledger is money spent on a structure that still needs replacing.
