Ringgold is the Catoosa County seat, sitting between Dalton and Chattanooga where the ground starts climbing into the ridges. It is a short run for us and a place we work often, partly because it is on the way to everywhere else we go.
It is also a town that knows what weather can do. The April 2011 tornado outbreak hit Ringgold hard, and a great deal of what stands here was built or rebuilt in the years after. That has a practical consequence for the work we do: a lot of this housing went up quickly, as shelter first, and the outdoor living was left for later. Later has arrived. The calls we take from Ringgold are mostly for the things that were deferred — a deck on the back of a house that never had one, a carport for vehicles that have been sitting out for a decade, a garage finally turned into the bedroom the family needed.
The terrain does the rest. Once you are off the flat, back yards fall away, so decks get elevated and fence lines have to step. And there is enough land on the outskirts and up toward the state line for post-frame to make sense, so carports, covers and pole barns are steady work here too.

A post-frame carport stands on its own posts, so it does not depend on the house structurally and we do not have to open a wall to tie it in. What we check on site is the setback to your line, how the ground falls away, and where water currently runs — those decide the position far more than the house does.
It matters for scheduling rather than for the work itself.
