A Family-Run Contractor in Dalton, GA

Building trust with quality work — the motto came before the website, and it is the only thing on this page we would defend in an argument.

Who we are

MNZ Construction is a family-run general contractor based at 300 W Waugh Street in Dalton, Georgia. We build across Northwest Georgia — Whitfield, Gordon, Catoosa and Murray counties — and over the state line into the Chattanooga and Cleveland areas of Tennessee.

Roberto owns the business, prices the work and is on the site while it is being built. That is not a marketing line about accessibility; it is a description of how a crew this size actually operates. When you call the number on this website, you reach the person who will stand in your yard and work out where the carport goes. When something needs deciding halfway through, you are not waiting on a project manager with eleven other jobs.

What we build splits roughly in two. Outside, post-frame structures and outdoor living: carports, pole barns, RV covers, pavilions, decks, covered porches and fencing. Inside, remodeling: custom tiled showers, bathrooms, garage conversions and room additions. It is a wide range for a small crew, and the reason it works is that most of it is the same fundamental skill — framing something square, roofing it so water leaves, and finishing it so it looks deliberate.

What our customers actually say

We would rather point at the Google listing than write our own testimonial. As of August 2026 it stands at 5.0 stars across 19 reviews, and what is striking about them is how consistent they are. Almost none of them praise craftsmanship in the abstract. They say the same three things, over and over:

  • The price was fair and it held. “He gave me a fair estimate…” — “did an excellent job at a fair price…” — “Fair price. Easy communication.”
  • We turned up when we said we would. “showed up when they said they would and got the job completed” — “Did the work when he said he would and to the specifications we agreed upon.”
  • We communicated the whole way. “Roberto communicated with us for clarity to ensure we got what we needed.”

There is one review we think about more than the others. A customer describes a supplier delivering poor-quality wood panels, and notes that before she could say anything, Roberto had already sent them back and ordered better ones. She then had us build a covered patio and fence the yard. Getting the second job from the same customer is the only review that really counts.

How we work

The estimate is free and it is a real visit

We come out, walk the ground, measure, and talk through what will actually work on your site — setbacks, slope, drainage, how a new roofline meets the old one. Nobody who quotes a structure over the phone without seeing the ground is giving you a real number.

The price goes in writing before anything is ordered

Scope, materials, sizes and colors named. If you change something, we re-price it before we start rather than after. Where an allowance is genuinely necessary, it is shown as an allowance rather than buried in a lump sum.

We tell you what we find

Rot behind a shower wall, soft decking under an old roof, a deck ledger that was never flashed. Older buildings hide things. You get a photograph and a price before we build back over any of it.

We will talk you out of work

If a roof needs a pipe boot rather than a replacement, we say so and take the smaller job. If a garage should not become a bedroom, we say that too. Selling somebody the wrong job is the fastest way to never hear from them again.

Where we work

The honest limit on our area is how far a truck can get in the morning and still put in a full day. In practice that means Dalton, Tunnel Hill, Rocky Face and the rest of Whitfield County; Ringgold and Fort Oglethorpe in Catoosa County; Calhoun and Gordon County to the south; Chatsworth and Murray County to the east; and across the state line to Chattanooga, East Ridge and Cleveland in Tennessee.

That list is where we work most, not a boundary. If you are near it, call and ask — we will give you a straight answer about whether it is a drive we can make properly, which is more useful to you than a quote we cannot honor. See all service areas.
